Accountabilities:
- Ensure conformance with the clients Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.
- An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development.
- Meet the senior technician (or supervisor or superintendent or manager) level requirements of the Operating Discipline Standard.
- Coordinate the implementation of the Environmental Management Systems which identify and risk assess environmental aspects associated with the operations
- Conduct environmental audits of companies Operations and ensure that recommendations are implemented in a timely manner.
- Coordinate and administer environmental plans, budgets and resources in consultation with the HSE Manager, which support the clients business plan
- Coordinate monitoring programs to enable the management of environmental issues
- Liaise with Governmental Departments in consultation with the Manager Compliance & Execution ( AMDAL ,etc )
- Coordinate communication of environmental issues to management, employees, contractors and the community
- Promote research and development where applicable
- Manage specific aspects and projects as directed.
- Assist with the career planning and development of all Environment Department personnel.
Experience
& Skills:
- The person shall have a minimum of 5 years experience, preferably in the Mining Industry or similar exposures.
- Person to have managed environmental issues within multiple mining operations.
- Previous management exposure to complex environmental issues and multiskilled technical personnel.
- Person to have operations experience.
- Good working knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations and legislation
- Competency in environmental monitoring techniques, specifically around ground and surface water monitoring, dust, noise, flora and fauna and acid rock drainage
- Working knowledge of ISO14001 and demonstrated auditing skills
- Personnel management & Cost management experience
