This position will be based at Martabe site with FIFO schedule 4/2 weeks and reports directly to the Superintendent Geotechnical and Hydrogeology.
The main accountabilities of the role are to:
- Promote and maintain high safety performance through personal commitment and application of safety policies and procedures
- Conduct regular risk assessments and monitoring of interim and final pit walls, dump slopes, and main infrastructures developments
- Evaluate, planning and implementation of geotechnical monitoring systems
- Determine, review, and recommend appropriate geotechnical investigation programs (drilling, sampling, and logging) required for current and future expansion of the pit, waste dump, and associated main infrastructures
- Develop geotechnical database of any geotechnical parameters for design works
- Generate geotechnical data models from collection and analysis of geotechnical mapping and drilling.
- Advanced user of geotechnical software – Slope Stability analysis (Rocscience Package, GeoSlope, Galena, etc.)
- Overseeing the implementation of slope design and evaluation of performance
Good understanding in hydrogeological aspects
- Undertake remedial geotechnical investigations and formulation of corrective measures
- Assist in developing and continuously maintain site-specific Ground Control Management plan (GCMP)
- Develop site-specific geotechnical hazards awareness training for the mine inducted personnel including contractors
Providing leadership and mentoring for engineer and geotechnicians.
Candidates for this role would be expected to have the following qualifications and experience:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in engineering geology or mining or civil engineering.
- At least eight (8) years experience in geotechnical engineering aspects (preferably open cut gold mine)
- Proficient in Geotechnical softwares, Surpac, AutoCad, MapInfo.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team.
